Weekly Column
The Holiday rush
is over and children are back to school.
As you prepare your family calendars for the remainder of the school
year, I wanted to remind residents that the Town of Caledon Parks and Recreation
Department hosts a Day Camp during P.A. Days.
P.A. Day Camp is
available for youth 5 to 12 years of age and they take place from 9:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m. (with extended day care hours available from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at an extra rate of $5 per day per child) at
the Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness. For $40.00 per person, your child can participate in this fun
camp. They will explore a variety of
exciting activities such as large group games, outdoor activities, basic
sports, songs, arts and crafts, swimming, skating (weather permitting), and
rock climbing.
Participants need
to bring a healthy, nut free lunch and snacks; water bottle; swimming suit;
towel; skates; and a helmet.
If you are at
home with your child during a P.A. Day and are looking for a fun activity,
special times have been established for recreational swimming and skating. Swimming is available at the Caledon Central
Pool and Mayfield Recreation Complex from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and the
Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness offers Kinderswim from 9:30 a.m. to
10:30 a.m. and a Public Swim from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The fee for a child (14 and under) is $3;
and Adult is $3.30; and a Family Rate (3-5 immediate family) is $7.75.
Recreational
Skating is also available at the Albion Bolton Community Centre and the Caledon
East Community Centre from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and at the Lloyd Wilson
Centennial Arena from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Children and youth (16 and under) are $2.25; Adults $3.25; and a family
(max of 5 family members) is $8.50.
