Clean Caledon Together on Earth Day

Posted on Thursday April 11, 2019

Caledon is joining municipalities across the country, in partnership with GLAD’s Clean Canada Together campaign, to support community clean-up initiatives. Celebrate Earth Day, April 22, with a community clean-up or just by picking up litter in your neighborhood.

“We invite you to participate in Earth Day by helping clean up your communities,” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “If you can’t participate in a community clean-up, we encourage you to pick up litter in your neighborhood or local park and include the items in your weekly waste collection.”

Register your clean-up date and location with the Town, round up your volunteers, pick up supplies, and help make your local parks and trails shine. The Town will provide bags for garbage and recyclables (compliments of GLAD) along with plastic gloves, safety information and guidelines, and removal of filled bags from designated locations. Clean-up events from April 22 through mid-May are encouraged.

Clubs, schools and businesses will be required to provide a certificate of insurance with the Town of Caledon named as additional insured. Neighborhood groups must have all participants sign a waiver provided by the Town.

Share your clean-up story on Facebook and Twitter to inspire others to do the same: #CleanCanadaTogether, #CleanCaledonTogether. To register your clean-up date and location, visit caledon.ca/trails.

Passionate about growing your own food? The Caledon Public Library in partnership with the Albion Hills Community Farm and Bolton & District Horticultural Society is hosting a free event - Seedy Saturday, Saturday April 27, Noon to 3 p.m. at the Albion Bolton Branch. You can also head to either the Albion Bolton or Inglewood library during Earth Week (April 22 to April 27) to borrow up to 10 seed packets with a library card. Local residents are encouraged to donate seeds to the library to help keep this program going.
