Approximately
58,000 people live in Caledon. We live here because it is a safe and active
community. It is an environmentally conscious community. We live in Caledon
because it is close to large urban centres and major transportation routes.
We live here and work here.
The
people in our community want to make a difference and see positive change.
Our residents make Caledon a vibrant place to live, work and play. Council
ensures the voice of our community is heard by affecting change to policies,
practices and services. Municipal staff works diligently to ensure the things
that are important to our community come to life – they make it happen.
Like any
corporation, a municipality must make money to provide programs and services
to residents. Our staff and Council maintain a responsible balance between
cost to the taxpayer and quality of service. Caledon has one of the lowest
tax rates in the GTA, and still we are able to sustain a wonderful quality of
life for our residents.
Community
safety is paramount – and, for two consecutive years, Maclean’s magazine
named Caledon the safest community in Canada. Recreation facilities target
all user-groups, and the new twin ice pad at the Caledon Community Complex is
a perfect example of meeting the requests from both our young and
young-at-heart winter sports enthusiasts.
Our “Environmental
Action Reports” document our municipality’s commitment to green
initiatives, creating a natural progression toward sustainable practices.
Caledon’s
Economic Development Department
continues to win prominent
awards for branding and marketing, heightening the awareness of our
community's attractiveness for development. An excellent example of a
progressive, compact and self-sufficient community is Mayfield West –
Caledon’s newest community.
Seamlessly blending homes and commerce, Mayfield West is a
master-designed, master-planned development that truly embodies “live, work,
and play”.
Thank
you for visiting our website dedicated to economic development in Caledon. I
look forward to seeing you soon.
